Waste of a day - not quite!

Decided to to visit Cumbria today on a mission to see the Rose Coloured Starling at Kendal and Hawfinch at Sizergh Castle. After a lovely drive over in glorious sunny weather, stopped off at Kirby Stephen on route and made instant contact with the local Parrot population..............brilliant to see.

Arrived at Kendal only to find that the RCS wasn't there today and we had missed the Hawfinch by about 10mins (never showed again). So set off for home.............rather deflated............when we nearly reached home we got word of a couple of Waxwings that were in Norton. A slight detour on the way back and there they were showing well in the late afternoon. The day wasn't a total write off after all.
