Quail Day

Saw my first ever Quail today on my way into work - right outside my works entrance! Sylvia came across several young Swallows on her travels today and grabbed a quick photo. This evening we went to Sheep Wash and located a family of Whinchat and Stonechat

  6. Hi James, Yes Sheep Wash is the area to the East of CodBeck resevoir, have had quite a few good sightings in this area, including Hen Harrier, Common Buzzard, Cuckoo, Tawny Owl, Whinchat as well as some of the more common birds. It also seems to be a migration route for Warblers etc, last September there were dozens of birds moving through this area on their way back.
