Greater Sand Plover at Redcar

After our return from Mull we decided to visit a more local celebrity - a Greater Sand Plover had been at Redcar-in-Cleveland for several days. The Plover did not disappoint and gave good views as it fed amongst the seaweed along side Sanderling and Turnstone

A few more photo's from Mull

The bird watching on Mull has been exceptionally quiet and the news that bird flu has been responsible for the deaths of some of the White-tailed Eagle chicks is devastating, lets hope that it doesn't escalate any further. The Loch-na-Keal Otter has been around and spending most of the day asleep on the seaweed, making the most of any good weather.

Couple of WTSE flying past

Some nice views of Otter

The sleeping Otter couldn't even be woken up by a passing Heron
Totally chilled out in the midday sunshine

Up to Oban and over to Mull 13th August 2022

Nice journey up to Oban to catch the 'little' ferry to Mull. Glorious weather and Mull was inviting as ever.

Oban looking as 'Iconic' as ever
Sailing ship in Oban harbour
The little ferry (Loch Frisa) across to Mull, not as little a it looks and a nice smooth trip across.

A pod of 3 porpoise past the ferry.

A fantastic day on Mull greeted us when we arrived

Trip to North Yorkshire

Had a drive to Helmsley, stopped to look for Gatekeeper butterflies and low and behold on the first Ragwort Plant we looked at we managed a to find one.
