A Slavonian Grebe turns up with the Snow

Well the snow arrived, which stopped me getting out for long. Visited Greatham Creek on Wednesday, had a fly past of a Short-eared Owl and a Greenshank on the Creek otherwise quiet and very cold. Thursday went to Hartlepool Marina to see if the Slavonian grebe had remained overnight, it had and didn't disappoint with some close views, the B.T. Diver and a couple of R.B. Mergansers were also there.

Sylvia spotted 30 Waxwings on the way home from shopping, not far from home. Tried for some pic's but the grey weather didn't make for good photo's.

Green Winged Teal at Saltholme

I decided to pay a visit to Saltholme on my way to do some shopping to see if I could catch a glimpse of the Green Winged Teal which was present yesterday.  I managed to pick up a few more ticks along the way including Great Spotted Woodpecker near the Phil Stead Hide and Goldfinch.  From the main hide at Saltholme got Pintail and Goldeneye together with Pochard, Widgeon, Golden Plover, Little Egret and Heron and eventually after a long wait the Green Winged Teal appeared.  Although the bird was not that far away the light was terrible so the photos are not as good as they possibly could have been, but a record shot anyway.
